Leaner than virtually any other cured meat, breseola offers a low-fat & low-cholesterol way to enjoy beef without compromising flavor. Quite the contrary, as the combination of boldly flavored breseola paired with soft & mild fresh mozzarella offers your palate a wonderfully synergistic balance of flavors. Served in a combination with a simple and fresh arugula salad, this sandwich will tantalize your taste buds while preparing it. Buon Appetito!
1 20-inch rustic baguette, cut into 4 pieces
1 four ounce package bresaola, such as Citterio
1 cup arugula
2 teaspoons olive oil
4 ounces fresh mozzarella, cut into 1 ounce slices
12 grape or cherry tomatoes, sliced in half & lightly salted
A few squeezes of lemon
Simple arugula salad
- Slice baguette pieces in half. Drizzle olive oil evenly over baguettes and grill on a grill pan for 3-5 minutes until toasted.
- Now begins the layering! On each baguette, start with a layer of arugula, followed by 4 slices of bresaola, 1 ounce mozzarella, 6 halved cherry or grape tomatoes & a final layer of arugula. Top with a squeeze of lemon & close sandwich. Alternatively, you may serve this open-faced.
- Serve with simple arugula salad as pictured.
